SUNY Erie Celebrates 2023 was a resounding success!!

As you may know, our Celebrates event has typically been an annual event to recognize the achievement and success of our Distinguished Alumni. Unfortunately, during COVID, we were unable to gather as a community to recognize what SUNY Erie and all its people contribute to the greater good. So, we were thrilled to finally be able to do so this year.
As this was the first such event since 2018, we wanted to take the opportunity to think deeply about *all* that we have to celebrate. A community consists of many members, and every member of the SUNY Erie community gives the best of themselves to SUNY Erie and to the larger Erie County community in distinctive ways.

Faculty, retirees, students, staff, alumni, supporters and champions of our college - all bring their talent, spirit, expertise, and energy each day to make SUNY Erie the gem that it is.
So, in addition to the Distinguished Alumni awards we traditionally give, we introduced four new awards to expand the scope of our recognition to include all that SUNY Erie has to celebrate: we added a “Heart of SUNY Erie Student Award,” a “SUNY Erie Faculty Service Award,” and a “SUNY Erie Staff Service Award.

The Foundation is proud to stand by SUNY Erie and is committed, along with all of our community members, to fostering student success. We look forward to many more years of our Celebrates event, because, as County Executive, Mark Poloncarz said in his remarks, we are thinking “forward from where we are today and where we want to be in the next 20 to 30 years, not just where we are today and where we want to be next year.”
